Hi Everyone,

I recently found an awesome hot dry mount press as well and have great fun experimenting. Sadly, finding information on how to use it for books has been much harder.

This website has some great information about dry mount tissue in general, not book-related: https://www.drymounttissue.com/how-to-dry-mount/

I emailed a trusted expert in the field who recommended MasterMount (adhesive only, no tissue) or BufferMount (adhesive with tissue). I will ask permission to post more, but in the meantime, they said, “both have worked so well that I wish that I had discovered them much earlier."

Just ordered the Mastermount, but haven’t tried it yet. But, I have experimented with Buffermount with good luck. Found the tissue too stiff for wrapping around boards, but terrific for mounting flat papers and prints. Adhered perfectly, easy to work with.

Sure wish someone would teach a workshop on this topic someday. Heat presses are a hot thing in the crafting world these days. Recently ran across an entire aisle devoted to all things hot at Hobby Lobby.

Good luck,

Laura

Hey everyone,

I recently got a hot press and am excited at the options it presents.
Especially for laminating papers without introducing any liquid.

But... Fusion 4000 is no longer available. Does anyone have a good
alternative? The closest I've see are "The Beva 371 Film" which takes two
steps and "Film 4000" from a company I've never heard of before (
https://www.designsinkart.com/film4000.shtml).

In theory, I could make PVA sheets but that seems like far more work than
it would be worth and potentially messier than the Fusion 4000 was.

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated!

Rachel

Hello Friends,

I just found out that I made an error in my previous response. It turns out that both MasterMount and BufferMount have tissue in between the layers of adhesive. More research needed. My apologies for the error.

Good luck,

Laura
