Dear Colleagues,
For decades our staff have used a Bostitch M7 wire stitcher for binding selected pamphlet materials in our circulating collections. We now find it difficult (perhaps impossible?) to source stainless steel replacement wire for this machine, though coated galvanized is available. (We are looking for flat 20 x 24, 20 x 25, or 19 x 21.5 gauge.)
Have any of you working in libraries encountered this situation? Do you have suggestions for vendors, or experience with any consequences of using galvanized instead of stainless steel? My concern is both for operation of the stitching head, and the longevity of the bindings.
Thank you for any thoughts,
Kate
