Fundamentals of Blind and Gold Tooling. August 15-19, 2022, in-person workshop at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. This is an intensive course for beginners and practitioners alike who want to build or build upon their finishing skills. We start out focusing on straight lines, the most versatile of decorations, and use shellac glaire to afix the gold. Students will also have the opportunity to explore the use of egg glaire, making of templates, using gouges (curved line tools), decorative tools, do carbon tooling, handle and use gold, and talk about my approach to tooling physiologically and psychologically.

Since everyone comes to this kind of workshop at different levels, and learn at different rates, I give each student a good amount of one-on-one time, and focus on what aspects of the process that fit best within each student's goals. Students will have several practice plaquettes to work on, and a final plaquette to have a finished piece at the end
Registration can be found through here: Fundamentals of Blind and Gold Tooling or can be found on my website page under "Upcoming Workshops" or through the Continuing Education workshop list through www.nbss.edu. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to me OFF LIST via email.
Cheers,Sam
