BOOKBINDING COMPETITION
at Bridwell Library
Perkins School of Theology
Southern Methodist University

HELEN WARREN DEGOLYER AWARD
FOR AMERICAN BOOKBINDING
Honors the entry that demonstrates the best of creativity and craftsmanship in the art of fine bookbinding: $6,000 commission

AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINE BINDING
Recognizes a completed binding that demonstrates excellence in structure and use of materials: $2,000 prize

AWARD FOR DESIGN
Recognizes a design that demonstrates originality, effectiveness and appropriateness to the selected text: $1,000 prize

2015 marks the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the
Helen Warren DeGolyer Triennial Competition for American Bookbinding.

In honor of this event Mrs. DeGolyer's unbound copy of Bernard C. Middleton, The Restoration of Leather Bindings (Chicago: American Library Association, 1976) has been selected as the award commission for the Seventh Helen Warren DeGolyer Triennial Competition for American Bookbinding.

Binders are invited to submit a design for The Restoration of Leather Bindings and one of his or her completed bindings as an example of techniques proposed.
