Haiku Miniature Accordion Book – Virtual – March 5, 2024 – 6-8 pm -Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild
Our natural surroundings (bugs, trees, flowers, and animals) speak of time, renewal, continuity, and the healing power of nature. In this workshop, students will create an accordion book that celebrates the resilience and diversity in nature and in all of us. The class will create designs related to nature in response to haikus provided by the instructor, and will bring the poems and their designs together in a miniature accordion book. - https://www.cbbag.ca/event-5525366 https://www.cbbag.ca/event-5525366
Altering The Page: Accordion Book With Collage – Virtual – Mar 7, 2024, 1:00–3:30pm - Center for Book Arts
The accordion book structure is a flexible form that can be adapted to many book themes, and one is the Altered Page Book. A blank page holds a lot of potential, one can alter it via folding, cutting, collaging, adding and subtracting parts, and more. Learn about sequencing, layering and folding to arrive at your pages. These in turn will be assembled to become part of an accordion book you have created with your unique designs. Do you acquire and save ephemera in your travels and daily life, do you have lots of beautiful papers and scraps that you saved for a special project, any old prints that you want to repurpose? We will use all your stored riches to collage the pages and create a new book work to store them in. - https://centerforbookarts.org/classes/online/altering-the-page-accordion-book-with-collage-2 https://centerforbookarts.org/classes/online/altering-the-page-accordion-book-with-collage-2
The Flag Book: A Movable Structure - April 2, 11am-1pm -ARLIS/NA Conference - Pittsburgh, PA
Originally created by Hedi Kyle, the flag book is a very exciting form, where the layered pages criss-cross each other and on opening and closing making the book a living, moving, interactive entity. The flags allow for multiple images and content. Each student will design a 3 dimensional book by using diverse methods; collage, photos, etc. to create their own designs for the pages and covers. A truly unique work will emerge. https://arlisna52ndannualconference.sched.com/event/1YLb2/the-flag-book-a-moveable-structure https://arlisna52ndannualconference.sched.com/event/1YLb2/the-flag-book-a-moveable-structure
