Figuring out point size of handle letters

Hello friends.

I have two sets of handle letters I'd like to sell, but I don't know
what size they are.

Can anyone tell me how to figure this out?

I have one of those plastic gauges graphic designers used to use with
the letter "E" in different point sizes. Is it that simple? Just match
the handle letter to that scale?

Don't different typefaces have some letters that are larger or smaller
than their comrades relative to other typefaces?

Thanks for any tips.

Stay well.

Karen
