11/16/23 Meeting Minutes and Tasks

GS
GBW Secretary

Hello everyone,

In preparation for our next meeting on January 18, I'm attaching the
minutes of our 11/16 meeting here. Please review and suggest changes as
necessary.

Going forward, I'll be sending minutes within a day of the board meeting,
so we can review upcoming tasks when they're all fresh in our minds. I'll
also start listing upcoming tasks in the email body itself for easy
reference (see below). This is a task list; additional details can be found
in the minutes. *Keep in mind, especially as I'm getting started, that this
list may not be exhaustive. *Please let me know if I've missed anything.

Action items before next meeting:

*President: *

  1. Follow up on tasks that need volunteers:
    a) historical record online of past board members.
    b) Going through the bylaws and standing policies and making them more
    relevant.
    c) Create onboarding documentation for new board members.

  2. Look into analytics for Vimeo and prepare motion for voting on whether
videos should be free for members.

*VP: *Check on status of Chapter Handbook revision

*Secretary: *Look into webinar format on Zoom and whether it would be a
good fit for the annual business meeting. Prepare motions on discussion
items for annual business meetings (time, format, location).

Standards Chair:
Line item for standards video editing approved; begin video editing process.

Nominating Committee/Those whose terms are up:
Nominating committee will reach out to those whose term is up by the end of
the year. Be thinking about whether you want to run again and if not
whether you have names and suggestions for replacements.

*Communications Chair: *
Check in with Henry about calendar on web page.

Tabled for future voting:

  1. Making access to standards videos for free for members.

  2. Making access to all videos on Vimeo free to all members. We will still
    keep a rental/purchase rate for non-members.

  3. Discuss moving the annual meeting (and removing Business from the name)
away from and before Standards. Meeting would be held via Zoom and recorded
for more members to be able to attend.

Thank you all for your work and have a wonderful weekend!

Jennifer

Hi All,

I've added the event list https://guildofbookworkers.org/event-listto our
main menu on the website. Here is a link for you to use to add your events
https://guildofbookworkers.org/node/add/event

One thing to note, that when you add a website, you need to start with
http:// or else it won't click through.

Please go ahead and give it a try if you have any real events to post. I
haven't alerted the membership of the link yet so we will be able to fix
any bugs/ troubleshoot. Thanks!
