New event calendar (work in progress)

Alright one more project I wanted to throw out there for consideration:

I cobbled together an event calendar where anyone with the role Officer or
Content Editor can publish to the list. I'm not super happy with the way it
looks (table styling is not great), but I'll need to tinker more to fix
that stuff or get the pros at Skvare involved.

It works well enough to get the concept across at least:
https://guildofbookworkers.org/event-list-test

By default the list orders by date, but you can click the column headers
(hard to see I know) for date, state, or type to re-sort the list. When the
date has passed the event falls off. Click the event title to get a full
view.

When you are logged in you should see an "Add content" button in the
Officer Menu section at the bottom of the page. On the next page you can
click "Event" to create a listing. The basic fields:

  • Title
  • Date & Time
  • Address (just city and state required)
  • Website
  • Event type - workshop, exhibit, etc. (taxonomy terms could probably be
    improved / added to)
  • Description

I can probably add an image option to this as well, but that'll take some
time to figure out.

Feel free to give it a test drive. This would make it way easier for
chapters and allied orgs to advertise their events on the GBW webpage, and
would take the burden off the communication chair's plate to constantly
update/maintain an event calendar.

Wow!
So clear and simple.
I like bare bones because it helps ensure that everyone can
participate...the sponsor of the event and potential attendees.

Love it!

This will be fantastic for regional websites to point to/draw from and
agreed, aneasy 2 for 1 lift for regional event chairs/coordinators.

[closing/end date] is wanted

Happy to add a couple test items. (Currently looking on mobile while not
logged in)

Phenomenal! You are a god send Henry! I've been toying around with how
to get links to our workshops available on the website without too much
hassle. This is perfect

I like bare bones because it helps ensure that everyone can
participate...the sponsor of the event and potential attendees.

Love it!

Alright one more project I wanted to throw out there for
consideration:

I cobbled together an event calendar where anyone with the role
Officer or Content Editor can publish to the list. I'm not super happy with
the way it looks (table styling is not great), but I'll need to tinker more
to fix that stuff or get the pros at Skvare involved.

It works well enough to get the concept across at least:
https://guildofbookworkers.org/event-list-test

By default the list orders by date, but you can click the column
headers (hard to see I know) for date, state, or type to re-sort the list.
When the date has passed the event falls off. Click the event title to get
a full view.

When you are logged in you should see an "Add content" button in the
Officer Menu section at the bottom of the page. On the next page you can
click "Event" to create a listing. The basic fields:

- Title
- Date & Time
- Address (just city and state required)
- Website
- Event type - workshop, exhibit, etc. (taxonomy terms could
probably be improved / added to)
- Description

I can probably add an image option to this as well, but that'll take
some time to figure out.

Feel free to give it a test drive. This would make it way easier for
chapters and allied orgs to advertise their events on the GBW webpage, and
would take the burden off the communication chair's plate to constantly
update/maintain an event calendar.
