And/or: Dream House Carousel Book at Sue Ann Robinson¹s studio in Long
Beach, Monday, January 21, 2008, 10 AM to 4 PM. Space is limited to six

Make a four-room pop-up book that joins end to end to make a 360-degree
house-in-the-round. Carousel books are as popular in children¹s book
publishing today as they were in the 19th Century. Using basic folding,
cutting and joining techniques no advanced engineering skills required -
we explore the minutiae of a doll¹s house as pop-up movables. There will be
plenty of opportunities to personalize this magical panoramic book it
could be a portrait of your own home!
Paul Johnson has an international reputation for his pioneering work in
developing literacy through the book arts and as a book artist. Author of
over fifteen titles including A Book of One's Own, Literacy Through the Book
Arts and Pictures and Words Together, (all Heinemann, USA) he ran until
recently the Book Art Project from Manchester Metropolitan University (UK).
His work is in the collections of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York, the
National Gallery, the Library of Congress, Washington DC, and many
universities including UCLA, Berkeley and Yale. His work was selected for
Stand and Deliver, an exhibition of pop-up edition books that until recently
toured the USA. He exhibits widely and is on the UK Craft Council's select
list of British designer-makers.
To Register for the workshop January 21 at Sue Ann¹s studio, send a check
made payable to Sue Ann Robinson in the amount of $120.00, to Robinson at
4752 Pearce Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90808. Space is limited. Include your
